The Comments Are Back!
If you are a regular visitor to this blog (and I thank you), you probably noticed that the comments function was turned off yesterday. See here for an explanation. Now, after extensive deliberations between me and the wonderful fellow who helps me manage the site, the comments function is back on. Please partake of this free-for-all by either reading the comments or posting contributions. Commenters should feel free to share their passions and opinions fully. But let’s try to be civil–at least as civil as the discourse that occurs on the cable shoutfests. (That is not too hard a standard to meet.) Try to keep the name-calling to a minimum, and do refrain from obscenity. I’d rather give commenters plenty of rope than tie anyone’s hands. In other words, please don’t make me come in there. So fire away.

I appreciate you allowing us back as I have come to really enjoy the give and take here. I especially appreciate the fact that people aren’t banned for their beliefs or for some technical violations of blog etiquette.
The only thing I would like to see, though is people getting banned for the vicious, epithet-filled name calling that has occurred here recently. There is just no excuse for that kind of talk when the rest of us are trying to have a civil discussion.
Once again, I wish to thank our host for providing this forum.

It is good to see people can make comments again. I read the blogs but my posts were limited to the forums. I agree with Tim, it was getting pretty unruly around here. I am curious to know if the forums will be restored or will comments be strictly limited to the blog area now?

Thanks David,
It is much more fun to post at a site where there isn’t collective groupthink, and actually engage in dialog, it keeps us on our toes.

MR. CORN, I WANT TO SAY THAT I REALLY ENJOYED YOUR CONVERSATION/DEBATE ON THE DIANE REHM SHOW A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO REGARDING FARENHEIT 911. IT WAS REALLY THE FIRST TIME IVE HEARD OF YOU ALTHOUGH I DO RECALL SEEING YOUR BOOK IN THE BOOK STORE.
MY HOPE IS THAT BY ELECTION DAY, AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE WILL UNDERSTAND WHAT THE ADMINISTRATION HAS DONE TO THIS COUNTRY . IT IS UNFATHOMABLE TO ME THAT PEOPLE CAN SUPPORT THIS GROUP. THERE IS JUST TOO MUCH DECEIT, DISHONESTY, AND LOOKING OUT FOR THEIR OWN SELF INTRESTS. CONSTANTLY IT SEEMS, THEY ARE MISLEADING THE PUBLIC. THE SAD PART IS THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE BUY THIS GARBAGE THAT THE ADMINISTRATION IS SELLING THEM.
HOW CAN YOU LOOK BACK ON THIS ADMINISTRATION OVER THE LAST 3 1/2 YEARS AND STILL TRUST THEM?
JUST THINK ABOUT THE MONTHS AND WEEKS LEADING UP TO THE INVASION OF IRAQ. THINK ABOUT THE RETORIC THAT THE ADMIN. WAS SPEWING ABOUT THE WMDS, THE AL-QAIDA-SADDAM CONNECTION, THE MOBILE BIO WEAPONS LABS. NONE OF IT IS TRUE! NONE OF IT! HOW CAN THIS GROUP GET AWAY WITH IT! THEY SHOULD BE ON TRIAL FOR WAR CRIMES! AT LEAST PHONY BLAIR HAS THE ACCOUNTABILITY TO ADMIT HE WAS WRONG.
I THINK WE HAVE DAMAGED ARE REPUTATION/STANDING WITH THE WORLD SO MUCH THAT IT WILL TAKE DECADES TO REPAIR WHAT WE HAVE SCREWED UP. WHO KNOWS HOW MANY NEW TERRIORISTS ARE GOING TO BE BRED FROM OUR INVOLVEMENT IN IRAQ?
LASTLY, WOULD WE HAVE INVADED IRAQ IF THEY HAD NO OIL? &
WHY ARE THERE GOING TO MORE MORE POLICE OFFICERS GUARDING THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COVENTION THAN MILITARY PERSONNEL IN AFGANISTAN WHERE THE REAL TERRORISTS ARE?!?

“For more than two decades, Saddam Hussein has sought weapons of mass
destruction through every available means. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons.”

I admire your work immensely but you really missed the boat on the Afghan pipeline and the Unocal connection. This is the whole reason for the war in Afghanistan. Unocal, Exxon-Mobil, BP, Gulf, and a host of other oil scum were in bed with the Taliban for years until 1998 when things started to go south and bin Laden got pissed. They had already started the damn pipeline but had to stop in ‘98. In July of 2001, Liela Helms (Richard Helms’ niece) who represented Taliban interests was told by Bush reps that they could accept a “carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs". THAT is why bin Laden attacked us. Do some research for Christ sake!

I forgot to recommend Robert Byrd’s new book “Losing America". Great insider stuff from a REAL patriot. A must read!
